Sustainable South Hams is pleased to be supporting South Hams District Council by facilitating a ‘Keep It Local’ symposium.

The event will be held on 10th November at Follaton House and will explore 2 fundamental questions: firstly, what is stopping growers and producers selling more locally; and secondly, how can the council help overcome those barriers. The symposium will be looking at food supply although the principles can be generalised across other sectors.

Economic activity is the main source of CO2 emissions and environmental damage. To protect the environment we need to reconsider how we produce and distribute food locally. SHDC is looking to develop ways to collaborate with local businesses and create the support infrastructure needed for a greener future.

To take the first steps towards this, SusSH will be supporting SHDC to deliver a Keep It Local symposium on the 10th November. During the symposium, we will be exploring the barriers to selling locally and how SHDC can help to move past these barriers

This symposium is invite-only, focussing on relevant businesses, producers and organisations. Email Jane Nichols on jane@sussh.org if your work is strongly connected to this and would like an invite.
