March 4, 2025
We had a great time at our Changemakers catch up on Friday 28th February. It was an unusual one for us as we went into it with no agenda, we wanted to hear from you about your latest news and how we can support you in 2025.
Valuable discussions were had and lots of delicious cake was eaten. We talked about how groups are not lacking ideas but often come up against blocks, whether that is the parish council, running out of energy, or inability to find support or volunteers. We discussed how important it is to maintain your own wellbeing in the face of these obstacles and challenges, and that sometimes this can mean going outside of your community to support other projects to keep your own cup full. Sometimes this can also look like partnering with organisations like Force4Nature to pull in volunteering resources.
We thought about what a good project looks like and how important it is to share stories rather than facts to engage people in the community.
Overall we learned that going into a meeting without an agenda isn't always a good idea, but that there is power and value in networking and that even in a rudderless boat, you can still find golden nuggets of information!
Our next Changemakers meeting is online on Wednesday 26th March. We will be discussing positive tipping points for climate and nature with Peter Lefort.
