At Sustainable South Hams we’re planning to really up our game on Energy this winter and we’d like to hear from you if you’d like to work with us.

There are two strands that we’re looking to develop:

  1. An Energy Assembly in late October
  2. A series of pop-up Energy Shows over next winter

Energy Assembly will be held at Kingsbridge Community College at the end of October 2025 (exact date tbc).  The primary audience would be local community groups and parish/ town councillors.   As well as an exhibition space, there will be speakers and workshops around subjects such as:

  • Generating income from energy for local projects
  • Decarbonising community buildings
  • Involving National Grid/Energy Local to understand export capacity

Our hope would be that the assembly would provide important momentum for the subsequent local pop-up energy shows.

If you have suggestions for exhibitors or speakers or would like to work with us to shape the event,  please email info@sussh.org

Pop-up Energy shows:  The idea is that Sustainable South Hams coordinates exhibitors and marketing and that Parish/ Town councils/ Community groups host the event by providing the space, local leafleting, support on the day and the all important audience.    We’re thinking of running the show on 5 or 6 Saturdays over the winter months Oct 2025 - March 2026.

And as part of our Community Action for Climate and Nature programme, we’re collating fact sheets, case studies and videos. One such example a Step by Step Guide to Decarbonising Community Buildings which our energy mentor, Mike Hodges has developed with South Hams District Council. The step by step guide is available on the lower part of this page this SHDC webpage. You can download a Excel based toolkit to go over key aspects of your building to look at quick wins to make your building more energy efficient.
